Maya Angelou
Life can be difficult, but I also understand and appreciate that Counselling can be a daunting route to take. We can all experience the struggles of trying to carry that weight as we do our best to continue putting one foot in front of the other; whether you have a specific challenge you are trying to deal with, feel overwhelmed and confused or lack motivation and just feel like everything is an effort, it can be hard to make sense of the world around you, and where you fit in. I've been there, stuck and unsure of what direction to take, or even how to make sense of what is happening right now, or has happened in the past. It all takes further effort, leaving us feeling anxious, depressed, frightened, lonely and confused.
A registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) with over 6 years experience as a person-centred counsellor, I adhere to the BACP guidelines for professional and ethical practice. I can offer you a safe, non-judgemental space that is both accepting and client led, meaning that I work WITH you, at YOUR pace to explore your experiences, to help make sense of what is happening right now, as well as what may have happened previously to shape your interactions with the world around you.
Our sessions will be collaborative, meaning I will not try to fix you, nor will I have an agenda; each session is all about YOU and what you want to share or explore. Together we will help you to gain a sense of clarity, understanding and self-awareness from what you share, that will allow you to not only rediscover and accept your genuine self, but lead to you to the recognition of your sense of worth, understanding that you matter, in order to allow you to lead a happier, more fulfilled life.
I want to hear and understand what is troubling you, in order to to support you through this time so you can move forward in your life. Please be assured, no issue is too small when it is affecting you.
Working with both long and short term clients, I offer a free initial 30 minute chat where I can explain how a little more about me and how our counselling sessions might look, as well as enabling you to ask further questions to help you establish if I may be a good fit for you, because as with everything in life your choice of counsellor should be your choice.
Its important to note that it is not my practice or position to diagnose mental health disorders, however I may refer you to your GP if I am concerned for your wellbeing.
What Happens in the first session and do I have to pay?
We can arrange an initial 30 minute call free of charge where we will talk about your expectations of counselling, your goals or reasons for seeking counselling, and how we might work together. This is the time for you to figure out if we are a good fit. If you are comfortable we will make a further appointment which will be chargeable.
What happens if I decide to go ahead with further sessions?
At the end of the 30 minutes you can decide if you wish to make further appointments with me and we will arrange them at this time, however I also appreciate that this can be a daunting step so you can go away and think about it and make a further appointment at a later date.
If you do decide to make an appointment please call or email. I will add that I cannot always answer immediately but leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
How many sessions will I have?
If, after our initial session, you decide to continue, I usually offer six sessions in the first instance. For some people this may be enough, however, depending on your circumstances, you may require a longer period of working together, all of which will be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure you are getting what you are looking for from the sessions .
What does counselling involve?
Counselling is a journey of discovery, enabling you to tell your story, at your own pace.
How long before I feel better?
Everybody's journey is different, and its rare that clients feel instantly better after one session, although some do; however you are more likely to feel tired, both physically and emotionally, especially at the start, as talking about things you have held for a long time can be challenging. But, just like anything worthwhile, the more effort you put in the more positive the results will be.
Where will our sessions take place?
I am currently offering online and telephone counselling.
How much does it cost?
My fee is £45 per session, payable through bank transfer 48 hours prior to session.
Can I get discount if I buy my sessions in bulk?
Yes. I offer package deals - please ask at time of booking or send me an email.
How long do sessions last?
Each session is 50 minutes.
How do I book a session?
You can call me on 07725649167
